Bible Class

We meet every Sunday after the Divine Service (around noon) to study matters pertinent to our faith. All are welcome to participate. Coffee, tea and snacks are provided.

If you want to know more about a subject, write it on a piece of paper and put it in the Question Box at the entrance of the Church. The pastor will bring the answer to your question at one of the Bible Classes.

Sunday School

St. John’s makes available a number of opportunities for learning more about the faith which we confess.  Our Sunday School includes classes for all ages which meet before the worship services every Sunday morning at 9:00 am. All children are welcome, not only those belonging to the congregation.

Confirmation Class

For Children

We conduct a two/three-year Confirmation course for students in grades six, seven and eight in order to integrate our young people into full participation in our sacramental life.

For Adults

We offer, as needed, an Adult Membership Class which presents the basic doctrines of Holy Scripture and prepares adult inquirers for membership in the Lutheran Church and full participation in our Sacramental Life.

Confirmation Class can also be by appointment

Please note: there is no Confirmation Class, Sunday School or Bible Class during the summer months of July and August.

LWML

Lutheran Women’s Missionary League – Canada is a national organization of Lutheran women who develop projects to support the mission of the church. Our congregation has a branch of this organization. If you are interested, please contact Sharon Mills (905 341 4256).

Choir

Our congregation has a mixed choir of adults and children who sing at the major feasts of the Church Year. If you would like to participate please contact the pastor or the choir director, Kira Bledoff ([email protected]).

Book Club & Tea

Meets monthly to discuss faith-building books. Those who are interested please speak with the pastor.

Pastoral Care

Our pastor is available for Private Confession and Absolution under appointment, as well as for Home Communion, Pastoral Visits and Anointing of the Sick.

Fellowship

Because we recognize that each one of us is a gift from God, we value each other’s company.  We demonstrate this at a number of parish functions, including pot-lucks, coffee hours, and seasonal parties.

Fellowship Coffee Hour

Every first Sunday of the month after the Divine Service. During the penitential times of Lent and Advent Fellowship Coffee Hour is suspended.

Crokinole Night

Every last Friday of the month, at 7 pm. The evening is concluded with the Order of Compline.

Events

We give thanks to God for the many volunteers who generously offer their time and talents for the ministries of our parish.  These Christians serve God because they are grateful for the gift of eternal life which he has given us in Christ, and because they are eager to share their blessings with others.  In our community of believers, everyone is most welcome to participate in activities.

Our congregation hosts several events throughout the year, such as a Christmas Sale, Shrove Tuesday Dinner, and more. Stay tuned for the dates of these events.

Library

In the passage between our Sanctuary and the Church Hall there is a small library with several books on the Lutheran faith and classics of the Christian Tradition. Feel free to borrow the ones you would like to read.
